A funny term I have heard used to discribe the ruffles around a daylily is Chicken Fat. Here is a photo I took in Luddy Lambertson's garden. It was one of Luddy's seedlings that was blooming. Not sure I have ever seen as much Chicken Fat on one flower in all my days. Man, it was on there thick. But it was quite an amazing blossom. I am still wondering how it even opened itself all the way up.
